Caribbean Mah Jong is a beautiful mahjong game for all ages with a pleasant theme. As in any mahjong game, your job is to match identical tile pairs until you clear the board. In order to be selectable, a tile must have a left or right edge completely free and must have no tiles above it. There are some special tiles that can be matched if they share a similar theme or style. For instance, tiles with the same animal but in different positions or colors, flowers, fruits, etc. There are also gold tiles hidden in every level which, whenever you find them and match them, you automatically win the level. This particular game has also its own rules. Namely, if there are more than six layers, additional layers of tiles are disabled. In order to enable them, you must remove the entire top layer by highlighting it with the menu's Tile Focus buttons. You will also find a series of power-ups that will help you finish a level faster. If you can't find a pair, the game will automatically suggests one (if you tick this option on the menu) by highlighting it on the board. Also, if you don't have any more matches available, you can use the shuffle option (which rearranges the tiles) or restarts the level. What is more, you can select any of four available tiles sets which feature different motifs.
The game includes two modes: Luxury ls Cruise and Island Hopping. In the Luxury Cruise mode, you play the levels in order, earning keepsakes and postcards for visiting the different islands. On the contrary, in the Island mode, you can play any layout you want.
Regarding the graphics, they are attractive and nice, but not really impressive. Sound effects are a bit poor and the music is pleasant but a bit repetitive.
All in all, Caribbean Mah Jong presents a good option when looking for a comprehensive mahjong game. |
